Now that you have purchased your art we do not want you to feel that your relationship with us has come to an end. You are cordially invited to The Art Asylum at anytime just to visit.
You will be most welcome.
We hope too that you will make The Art Asylum your headquarters for all of your future art purchases.
OUR CREED
Adapted from the book, "How to Make a Living as a Painter"
Being a painter is a great privilege and, like most privileges, it has to be worked for if you are to deserve it. Most of the young people who start out to be artists don't make it. Some of those whose talent seems to offer the most glowing future, burst like a rocket and then fade out. And some of the plodders, who climb slowly and painfully, end like the plodder Cezanne, at the top of the long hill of success.
Painting is not simply a matter of talent. It is a rare mixture of sensitivity and fortitude--sensitivity to the earth and to the pageant of man's life upon it; and fortitude to wrestle with the images that come, and to try again and again, amid failure, to give these images form and meaning. It is a lonely life, because what you do, you do alone -- and if you succeed now and then, you do not know it.
By putting your pictures within the reach of everyone, you do more than make a living. You gain a feeling that you are a part of a world that needs what you have to offer it.
As to the lasting worth of your work, you will never know the answer to that in any case. But its merit will not be less., I believe because you shared the ability you had with as many people as possible.
